Kassidy Welte Sorensen
Founder & Managing Principal
Kassidy grew up in Las Vegas and escaped the heat by spending her summers in Orange County, where she fell in love with the ocean and Balboa Island. During the rest of the year, Kassidy learned from her parents who worked in small business healthcare, insurance, and construction. This sparked her own passion for working with small businesses.
Kassidy studied finance and advertising at Brigham Young University, where she met her husband, Scott. Before graduating, Kassidy took two years off to go on a service mission in Japan, where she learned Japanese and helped women develop faith and self-reliance skills.
After graduating, Kassidy became a product manager at Capital One, where she led the Capital One credit card application, which has 100M+ visits annually. She made her way back to California and has been here ever since. Some of the work she led included:
-
Platform modernization to enhance resilience and security of the credit card application
-
Automated upsell offers to customers who were eligible for superior products or credit cards
-
Credit limit increases for small business customers during the pandemic using alternative data sources
-
An integration with multiple expense management softwares to ensure Capital One small business customers could more easily manage their business transactions
While Kassidy loved building products that reached a broad audience, she felt drawn back to her roots of working with small businesses. To strengthen her leadership and management skills, she decided to pursue an MBA at Stanford alongside her husband, Scott.
While at Stanford, Kassidy worked at Amazon where she supported the development, training, and use of machine learning models for large and small businesses. She also worked at Condor Airlines in Germany to improve their ground operations through enhanced performance metrics and standard operating procedures.
She now lives in Aliso Viejo and works out of Newport Beach. She loves beach volleyball, pickleball, skiing, and spending time with her nieces, nephews, and dog Mollie.
